You may have noticed that I've been quite absent as of recently. Well, I have a good excuse. We were busy moving. Yes, you heard me correctly, we moved. It wasn't a hard move, but it was challenging enough. We left our home on Elm Ave, and have moved to Minnesota St. Instead. It's about a 5 block difference from where we came from. The new house we have is quite a bit larger. It was built in 1903, so it's fairly old. It has great high ceilings, and multiple stories, and a basement with extremely high ceilings there as well. I get a double garage out the back, and a smaller yard, but room for deck and place for the hot tub and a place for Olivia to play. It's going to be a fun adventure, and I have an extremely long list of things to do here, and some to do at the old house.
For those of you that are curious, we did not sell our house on Elm Ave. We are now renting it out. It's an interesting move that will bring in a little money for us. It's going to be an adventure. I'm still working on some items over there as our renter is already settling in. So it shall be a new interesting ride. Anyway, as I always say, happy start to summer on this Memorial Day weekend.

Water Recovery
It's been a pretty brutal couple of weeks around here. We've been mopping up from a couple of different water related disasters around here. Grandpa's pickup has been getting a workout, and taking a beating (more on that coming up).
First water disaster came a two weeks ago when one evening after work I discovered the carpet in the basement was wet. It resulted in a frantic call for help to watch Olivia while Heather and I hauled things out of the basement. A few days of searching didn't yield any promising suspects, but we had it narrowed to three. I eliminated two of them, and then fixed the hot water heater (the guilty party). So, now it was just carpet that was wrecked, or so we thought. We found in another area where we didn't think there was a water issue a much larger water problem. So, we ended up ripping up more carpet which was very stinky by the time we figured out where the problem had ended up going, and pulling off some sheetrock. Well, when I pulled off some sheetrock, I was shocked to find absolutely terrible construction behind the walls. Instead of a standard 2x4 wall, there were 1x1s glued to the concrete block. Those 1x1s had one screw in them holding them up. So, a quick call to Mr. Fixit Dick Grandstrom resulted in a days worth of hard work, and a new room! Thanks again for that help, Dick! So, now I hope we don't have to repeat that again.
Second water recovery is still on going. We are having to bounce back from the hail storm that rolled through a week ago tomorrow. We have some good photos below of some of the sized chunks we dealt with at our house. Olivia standing at the window yelling "Ball! Ball!" as the hail is bouncing off the cars and the ground was quite funny to us since the vehicles were already pretty banged up. Tomorrow we get the house insurance news on what we will be replacing. I'll be happier the larger the list of things to replace, the only downfall is it will be at least a month before the work is done now because of the large number of houses needing repair. All in all, we had house damage, both the Impala and the Trailblazer were damaged, and grandpa's pickup got damaged. But, it has hauled a lot of trash to the dump for me despite dealing with the nicks and dings, and is still great for hauling the housing supplies to fix what we can around here. Now, for some of the hail, and a picture of Olivia wishing you to have a great weekend (and hopefully for us an uneventful weekend).
