Reading a Book

Yes, I actually read a whole book, and did so in just over a day. Yes this book had more than 20 pages. It was actually over 200. No, every other page was not a picture. I got hooked from the moment I saw the book on a table in Tennessee. It was one of the more bizarre occurrences I've had in a long time.

When I arrived down in Chattanooga last week, I realized I forgot my power adapter at home. So, I went to get a replacement and was taken by one of the the guys with the company I worked with. We were driving to an Office Depot and talking about all kinds of things. We got the power adapter and then headed back toward the office. One the way back we started talking about sports and ended up on football, and small college sports. I mentioned that I went to a small school in Minneapolis, and he asked me which one. I told him I went to Northwestern, and he replied, "Oh, the Eagles, right?"

At this point I was slightly shocked. We're a long way from Minnesota. I had to ask how he knew that. As it turned out, he'd heard of the school from a website that talked about poor college sports teams. Northwestern was pretty good at all their sports, but as soon as he mentioned the school being on the same conference as Trinity Bible College, I knew exactly where this was headed. The TBC Lions had a game at Northwestern in 2005 where it was one of 2 games that Northwestern football team played (and won) in the same day. Well, the team from Trinity had been poor prior too that, including starting the 2003 season with a 105-0 loss to Rockford, IL. Anyhow, it was an interesting connection to have heard of these schools at the same time when I was actually in college. As it turned out, he actually had listened to a game that I was broadcasting while in college.

So, where does the book come in? My last day in Tennessee, he brings me a book called "Keeping the Faith". The book is a story of the 2004 Trinity Football team. Yup, a book about the small school from Ellendale, ND. Even Heather, and alumnus hadn't heard of this. I recognized a name in there, even played high school sports against one of the players in the book. I read the book in just over one day, it was good. I love history, and I think the knowing of the school and having a family connection made it interesting, but man was I into that book. If you need, check it out at amazon.com

Tyler! How's it going, just randomly was thinking about college days, and wanted to see what you were up to. Nice work with converting the couch to a love seat, by the way. I recently had to do a couch conversion of my own. Hope things are going well for ya, nice blog site.
